Overview

Enclosures Built for
the Real World

An electrical enclosure is not just a box. It is the first line of defence for every component inside it — against moisture, dust, vibration, thermal cycling, and the hands of a field technician under pressure. A poorly designed enclosure fails all of them.

At Clay Lilac, every enclosure is designed from the operating environment inward. Your compliance requirement, material selection, gasket design, thermal load, internal layout, cable entry, and service access are all resolved before a single sheet metal flat pattern is issued.

Delivered in SolidWorks or CATIA V5, on your templates, checked into your PDM vault — ready for manufacture without a single interpretation call.

Based in Newmarket, Ontario, we design electrical enclosures and control panels for manufacturers across the Greater Toronto Area — including Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, Vaughan, Brampton, Richmond Hill, Aurora, and Newmarket — as well as clients across Canada and the United States, all delivered remotely with the same responsiveness as an in-house design team.

What We Deliver

Six enclosure engineering disciplines delivered on your templates, into your vault, with full IP transfer.

01
CAD Environments
SolidWorks & CATIA V5

All enclosure work delivered in SolidWorks or CATIA V5. Native sheet metal parts, assemblies, and drawings issued in your preferred format. Files checked directly into your SolidWorks PDM or ENOVIA vault on every revision.

02
Compliance & Standards
Client-Led Compliance Design

Enclosures are designed to the compliance standard you specify. Your IP rating, NEMA classification, or regulatory requirement is confirmed during briefing and drives all downstream decisions — material selection, gasket design, joint treatment, cable gland specification, and assembly sequence — all resolved before drawing issue.

03
Internal Layout
DIN Rail & Component Placement

Full internal layout design including DIN rail positioning, component mounting, wiring duct routing, cable management, and clearance verification. Every component modelled in 3D and verified for assembly access and maintenance reach before drawing issue.

04
Thermal Engineering
Thermal Management & Ventilation

Thermal load calculations, heat dissipation strategies, ventilation aperture sizing, fan and filter unit specifications, and cooling unit integration. Enclosures designed to maintain rated operating temperature across your full duty cycle — not just at nameplate conditions.

05
Cable Entry
Gland Plates & Cable Management

Gland plate design, knockout patterns, conduit entry, EMC cable entry systems, and strain relief specifications. Every penetration designed to maintain the IP rating of the enclosure and the EMC integrity of the system inside it.

06
Engagement Terms
NDA, IP Transfer & Flexible Billing

NDA before any brief is shared. Full IP transfer on completion. Drawings on your company templates. Stage completion or biweekly billing — agreed upfront. End the project at any point with prior notice. No lock-in, no penalties.

* Prior notice period as agreed in the project contract.
Our Process

How an Enclosure Project Runs

From operating environment to shop-floor-ready flat patterns — a clear, fast sequence.

01 /
Environment & IP Brief

We capture the operating environment, your compliance requirements, component list, thermal loads, cable entry requirements, and installation constraints before any modelling begins. PDM structure and drawing templates confirmed at this stage.

02 /
Enclosure Structure & Layout

Sheet metal enclosure structure modelled in SolidWorks or CATIA V5. Internal layout positioned in 3D — DIN rails, wiring ducts, components, and cable entry all resolved before flat patterns are generated.

03 /
Compliance & Thermal Review

Compliance requirements verified at every joint, penetration, and gasket interface. Thermal load calculated and cooling strategy confirmed. Serviceability and maintenance access checked against your field procedures.

04 /
Drawing Package & Handoff

Full 2D drawing package on your templates with GD&T, DXF flat patterns, STEP 3D file, BOM, gasket specifications, and hardware callouts — all released through your PDM as a single traceable package.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Clay Lilac electrical enclosure design services.

Yes. Clay Lilac Innovations is based in Newmarket, Ontario and designs electrical enclosures and control panels for manufacturers and control panel builders across the Greater Toronto Area — including Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, Vaughan, Brampton, Richmond Hill, Aurora, and Newmarket — as well as clients across Canada and the United States. All work is delivered remotely with the same responsiveness and PDM/PLM integration as an in-house designer.
We design enclosures to the compliance standard specified by you. Your IP rating, NEMA classification, or any other regulatory requirement is confirmed and documented at the brief stage. That specification then drives every downstream design decision — material selection, gasket design, joint treatment, cable gland type, and assembly sequence. Nothing is assumed or inferred; everything is agreed in writing before modelling begins.
All enclosure work is done in SolidWorks and CATIA V5, with native files delivered directly into your SolidWorks PDM or ENOVIA vault. Drawings are produced on your company templates — your title block, your revision table, your drawing standards.
Yes. We design the complete internal layout in 3D — DIN rail positioning, component mounting plates, wiring duct routing, cable management, and clearance verification. Every component is modelled at its actual envelope and checked for assembly access and maintenance reach before any drawings are issued.
Yes. Thermal load calculations, heat dissipation strategy, ventilation aperture sizing, fan and filter selection, and cooling unit integration are included where the application requires it. We design enclosures that maintain rated operating temperature across the full duty cycle — not just at nameplate conditions.
We design the full cable entry system — gland plate layout, knockout patterns, conduit entry, EMC cable entry, and strain relief specifications. Every penetration is designed to maintain the IP rating of the enclosure and the EMC integrity of the system. Gland size schedules and torque specifications are included in the documentation package.
Two options: stage completion billing ties payments to defined deliverable milestones, and biweekly billing suits longer engagements with rolling scope. Both are agreed in writing before work begins. Projects can be ended at any point with prior notice — no lock-in, no penalties.
